Home Sweet Home!
My father gets to go home!! He doesn't have to go to rehab, he gets to go straight home. He is still in a very dangerous spot, but at least he gets to be in the comfort of his own home for Thanksgiving.

Tired
I don't have any new news on my father. I try to keep my phone glued to my hip just in case SOMETHING, ANYTHING happens. All I know is that things are still very serious. While things are improving as far as his speech and strength go, he is still in a dangerous spot. One of his arteries is not letting ANY blood through and one is letting very little through. This leaves him in a very dangerous spot, but to go in and remove the clots is just as dangerous. I have faith he will be fine and nothing will happen again, but it's not a guarantee.
So, anyway. I'm tired, trying to not be emotional because that doesn't do anyone any good. And I think it may almost be bedtime.

Eventually, all the pieces will fall into place
Eventually, all the pieces will fall into place, so until then, laugh at the confusion, live for the moment and just know that everything happens for a reason
"Don't I have to..." I heard my father say these words together today. It's the most words I have heard him say since Sunday morning. It made me smile. It made me realize that it will not happen overnight. It will be a slow, steady process, but it WILL happen.
He also had something to say about the way the date was written on the board. Seems the second slash in the date wasn't to his liking. It was too short and looked like another number one! *giggle* It's nice to see him trying and not giving up on getting what he wants to say across.
I also talked to him on the phone. Told him I wasn't going to make it back up today, but would be back tomorrow. He's laughing a lot more, especially when I figure out what he's trying to say even when he can't say it.
Michael has his first school dance tomorrow and Jason LOOKS like he is putting some weight on, which is obviously good.
Not much else going on right now. Please still send prayers and thoughts.

I Was Given This Life Because I'm Strong Enough To Live It
I was given this life because I am strong enough to live it...

I found myself today being very cynical about my life and how things are happening. I posted a whole blog on another site about not bothering anymore to try and do the right thing because well, look where it has gotten my Buppie and my father. I then had two amazing women set me straight.
Everything DOES in fact happen for a reason, although it may not be clear to us as to why they are happening. And I need to just be thankful that I still have my father and be strong for him, Vicki and my children. And the rest of the family even. And when I am feeling cynical, I need to keep it to my damn self.

And SOMETIMES you need a good strong talking to...
Watch. Tie. What's this? Yes. No. Hospital.
Simple words that we all take for granted. But, these are the ONLY words I have heard my father say today and while that is an improvement from yesterday, it is still frustrating. I get very frustrated watching him trying to speak and get frustrated. So frustrated that I have to walk out of the room to keep from crying.
The Dr. wanted for my father to undergo intense speech therapy to regain his speech and they wanted him to do it in a rehab setting which would mean being in the hospital for another 2 weeks or so. After first, he refused. But, then "Big Sister" came along and had a few words with him (Thanks Denise) and when the Social Services lady came in, he and Vicki (btw Denise if Vicki sees you spelling her name with an "e" she'll have your head. Just saying =] )decided that it was for the best for him to start rehab. So, he will be getting moved within the next couple of days to EMMC.
Jason had his lab work done today. HIs liver, kidneys and thyroid are excellent. He is however severely anemic, so he will be getting iron supplements.
That's it for my day.

Sometimes you just have to cry
I can honestly say that I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen my father cry. The day of his grandmother Arey's funeral, the day Michael was born, the day Buppie died, the day of Buppie's funeral and today. His frustration finally got the better of him. He is still unable to speak. I have heard him say a couple of "simple" words. Oh (which may actually be NO), yes and ummmm...But that is it.
Yesterday, he thought he would be able to leave today, but because they are doing more tests tomorrow, he realized this afternoon that he would not be going home today. And this evening they started him on a blood thinner that takes 3 days to get into his system and therefore, he won't be leaving until the meds are in his system. And this is a medication that he will have to take everyday. For the. rest. of. his. life.
No results whatsoever yet and probably won't have any until sometime late tomorrow afternoon.

when it rains, it pours
After dinner tonight, I went back up to the hospital in hopes of finding that things had improved with my father. Unfortunately, they hadn't. In fact, they had gotten worse. He had not spoken since I left earlier this afternoon. His face had the "droop" and you could tell that he knew what he wanted to say, but he couldn't get any words out at all. And my step-mother said he was having problems with his "opposites" as well. Sometimes when he would nod his head yes, he meant no and when he shook his head no, he meant yes. And it was apparent that even though he was trying very hard not to get frustrated, he was. They were preparing to give him a blood thinner medication which would not eliminate the current clot, but would prevent any more from forming.
I'm very tired, very emotional and am ready to fall asleep. Actually falling asleep may be another story though.
